Can petitions, emails, blogs and comments on the internet help protect wildlife? Well, remember that even a small act done on the ground is magnified by the impact of collective, public opinion. Besides, the issue today is that irrespective of the different problems confronting us, social or environmental, possibly just one per cent of our population is causing the problem and one per cent or less are actually "doing something on the ground" to fight the problem. The rest are often on the fence on one issue or the other. Signing or texting, or emailing cannot solve problems, but its the pathway to greater involvement. So, speaking for myself, I exhort people not to get angry, but get involved. And often the first step towards a deeper involvement is "just signing" something.
