SPECIAL MENTION: Satyendra K. Tiwari – End of a Ti
SPECIAL MENTION: Satyendra K. Tiwari – Born in the Khitauli range of the Bandhavagrh National Park, this young tiger had been spotted with his mother in the Damdama area in April 2012, when he was about 18 to 20 months old. After separating from his mother, he moved towards the thin tiger-density Khitauli range towards Barhi- Katni. In the Machmacha village, poachers had laid live wires from an 11KV electricity line, possibly to trap wild pigs or deer. This young tiger’s tail came in contact with the live wire and he died instantly. Poor governance and apathy combine to take a needlessly heavy toll of tigers across India.
