SPECIAL MENTION: KIRAT MUNDLE – Battle of the Sexe
SPECIAL MENTION: KIRAT MUNDLE – Courtship can be complex and dangerous for tigers Panthera tigris. When a tigress goes into oestrus, she signals her willingness to mate through vocalisations that include roaring and moaning, as well as scent trails left across her territory for potential mates. With such a huge investment in her future family, a tigress may not accept the first suitor to make his presence felt as she weighs her chances of winning a more powerful, dominant male with the healthiest genes. This dramatic moment took place in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, where tigers need space, isolation and protection from humans.
