Chemical Rivers

Special Mention: Girish K.B.: November 2009, Thrissur, Kerala – Chemical Rivers: Better manned international borders, more security forces and superior fencing will not be enough to protect our people whose greatest risk lies in polluted rivers, ground water and poisoned soils. While our leaders believe that economic development must supersede any form of environmental protection, the growing pollution and the associated health problems are testimony to the fact that in an age of galloping climate change, both life and liberty are put at risk when scarce and valuable fresh water sources are destroyed.
